Een toevallige ontdekking — A chance discovery

Simona – Trust No Carb

Nederlands

While looking for photos and information about the octopus I had bought at Albert Heijn, I came across Trust No Carb by chance, the blog of Simona, an Italian living in the Netherlands.

Her blog began during her keto diet and now focuses on a more balanced way of eating: high-protein recipes, meal prep, product reviews and practical overviews of keto and low-carb products in Dutch supermarkets.

In her article "Keto products at Albert Heijn", she lists the products by section: vegetables, fish and meat, dairy, oils, nuts, sauces, snacks. She gives the net carbs and what to check on the label. It is an overview she has kept updating over the years. She even mentions that some Albert Heijn stores sell octopus.

For my own cooking, this kind of work is useful. Knowing what our suppliers really sell, and what is in it, is where every recipe begins. If I cannot buy octopus, I cannot make my octopus dishes.

I have only read part of her blog so far, but I will come back to it when I am looking for a product. If I use her information in a recipe, I will mention her work.
